Biographical Info
Retired federal government (DoD) IT Specialist (InfoSec) with CISSP, CAP, MCP, Security+ Network+ A+ project+ and a host of other IT certifications. I am a former Navy Chief Cryptologic Technician (Collection) with the Naval Security Group Command where I served in a variety of colorful locations and performed a myriad of exotic duties (or the other way around, I can't talk about it) and had to cut my career short after breaking my neck in an accident in heavy seas. I also retired as a Level 1 Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department where I served as a volunteer sworn deputy in the patrol division in North County, was a Field Training Officer and a member of the Off-Road Enforcement Team. I was also a POST certified instructor in defensive tactics and firearms at the Palomar College Police Academy. I am a member of the American Legion Amateur Radio Club (TALARC) and President and Trustee of the Post 155 TALARC, N7ALR. I am a past 1st Vice Commander. I am active on HF, a mamber of the Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association's Fleet Radio Unit Pacific, the Quarter Century Wireless Association, a life member of Ten-Ten and #265 in the Straight Key Century Club. I check in to the Noon Time Net often and am a member of the OMISS and YLISS groups. I operate an Allstar repeater on 146.900 and a Dstar repeater on 442.275 as well as numerous GMRS repeaters around the Pend Oreille and Bonner counties. My previous callsigns (1987-1990) were KB6OPQ and KC6NRB. I am an active MARS member, having served in the Navy MARS, Army MARS and currently Air Force MARS. I am a Coast Guard Auxillary Flotilla Vice Commander Staff Officer for Communications and also the Division Staff Officer for Communications and Finance. I am a founder and former Director and Secretary/Treasurer of the Pend Oreille County Radio Group (POCRG.org) W7POC and the current club President. I make wine, donate website design and hosting to half a dozen or so non-profits, and am a cofounder and longarm quilter for Welcome Home Veterans Quilts of Valor; we have awarded over 300 quilts to veterans in the northern Washington and the Idaho panhandle area. If you are a veteran, or know a veteran, that would enjoy a quilt, Quilts of Valor is a National organization and you may have a single lifetime award. Every veteran wrote the blank check to the United States of America and every veteran is deserving of a quilt. https://qovf.org has information and a click button to make the request; the request will go to a national database and be assigned to the nearest of nearly 500 QOV groups. When I retired my wife said that I wasn't allowed to just watch TV and drink bourbon.....
